Pahalgam sightseeing guide: Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari

Pahalgam's sightseeing is built around three local zones, each requiring a switch to local jeeps for the final stretch due to road restrictions.

Betaab Valley The closest of the three, around 15 minutes from the main town, known for riverside walks and photography.

Aru Valley About 30 to 40 minutes away, with pine forest scenery and pony-trail options, and generally quieter than Betaab.

Chandanwari Roughly 45 minutes out and the highest-altitude of the three, often the first stop affected by weather or seasonal closures.

Suggested order Start with Aru Valley in the morning to avoid the busiest midday crowds at Betaab and Chandanwari, then work backward toward town. Covering all three in one day is possible but tight -- most visitors find two of the three, done properly, more satisfying than rushing through all three.
